The 2009 Cluster Meet officially opens today participated by Echague, Jones and Angadanan campuses.
The theme of this year’s meet is” People Empowerment Through Sports and Socio– Cultural Activities”.
The cluster meet aims to select athletes of the cluster to compete against the clusters of Cauayan, Ilagan and Cabagan during the Quadrangular Meet slated October 2-3 at Cauayan Campus.
After the Quadrangular Meet, The Provincial Tertiary Athletic Meet is tentatively scheduled on November to be participated by chosen athletes from the State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA), Private School Athletic Association (PRISAA) and the Local Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (LCUAA)
Earlier, The Socio– Cultural Choir under Prof, Narcisa Macutay also shared the limelight with an outstanding rendition of the ISU March, not usually heard by faculty and students during programs.
Though unusual, the crowd applauded the rendition of the National Anthem and the ISU March which the crowd expects to be repeated during future programs.
The choir consists of students of the College of Teacher Education.
Another highlight of the opening program was the exhibition of the ISU Drum and Lyre Corps who wowed the crowd with their own version of hit songs played with lyre and accompanied by snare drums and cymbals.
The presentation of the different delegations went on as the Deans introduced their respective teams with their own adjectives to induce a cheer for their teams.
The tournament managers for the two– day athletic meet are: Prof. Mario Berbano (Athletics), Prof. Gemma Babaran (Badminton), Engr. Edmund Obiña (Basketball), Dr. Elpidio Domingo (Baseball) Engr. Bonifacio Ausa (Chess), Mr. Benjo Carag (Lawn Tennis), Prof. Emeterio Alipio (Sepak Takraw), Prof. Roberto Batara (Soccer Football), Prof. Resti Miguel (Softball), Prof. Warlito Antonio (Table Tennis), Mr. Maurice Estrada (Taekwondo), and Dr. William Eustaquio (Volleyball).
